About Hope Outreaches

My name is Natalie Harrison Mahawon.

When I was thirteen, my life was forever transformed by a vision God placed in my heart. I really didn’t know what it meant. All I knew was that God had something in store for my life, and all I had to do was say yes. A little over two years ago, I did just that. I said the biggest yes that I had ever said in my life. God laid it on my heart to sell everything and move to Thailand. I didn’t know what I was going to do at first or how long I would be there. God opened so many doors for me, and He showed me what He wanted me to do step by step.I quickly realized that Thailand is my home and where I want to be for the rest of my life.

I also knew I wanted to do everything I could to help the children of Thailand. I started volunteering at a local children's home and became an English teacher. I also started volunteering in local schools in poor communities. It’s been a joy to get to witness to children and to be someone they can look up to. Soon, I wanted to learn more about the needs of the children. I was shocked to learn that 1 in every 2 children in Thailand are at risk of being trafficked, and according to the Global Slavery Index, Thailand is home to 610,000 victims of human trafficking. My life changed forever when I was taken to the border of Thailand and Burma. It was there that I saw my first ever child brothel. It was so close that I could have thrown a baseball at it; yet, I could do nothing.

A lot of the time, these traffickers target children with mental or physical disabilities. They chain them up in these buildings, and no one comes to their rescue. I knew that there was nothing else I could ever do with my life except to try to put a stop to this. We want to see every child rescued. We want to see every child have true healing through the power of Jesus Christ, but what we would love to see most of all is for this to never happen to a child in the first place. The great news is that this is exactly what we are working to do.

In July 2022, we launched our prevention program called Hope Outreaches. In this program, we be spreading the gospel to the most at-risk communities and taking care of their monthly food needs. We will be giving clothes, educating communities, and hosting huge free health clinics for people that couldn’t otherwise get the help they need. Being able to provide these things in an at-risk community is huge because the main reason so many children are trafficked is because the parents are too poor to take care of their children, or they are tricked by being given fake opportunities to make money for their families in Bangkok.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my heart and vision for the future.

God bless you all,

Natalie
